John Gisborne, friend of Percy and Mary Shelley. Little is known about the life of John Gisborne save that he was often unemployed, though he was trained as a merchant in his youth. In 1800 he married Maria Reveley, a friend of William Godwin's, and together they moved to Italy in the following year.
